World culture: Exhibition “World of Faberge” opened in Shanghai

Unique exhibits from the Armory and funds of the Moscow Kremlin are first introduced in China in the opened on September 28, 2012 exhibition "The World of Faberge" at the Shanghai Museum. The exhibition includes more than 280 objects, created by Russian jewelers in the XIX and XX centuries.

"This is a special exhibition which we have been preparing with Chinese counterparts about three years", - said Director General of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina. "Especially for the Chinese visitors, we tried to find such works that are close and clear to them, both from the point of view of the images, and from the point of view of technique, in which they are carried out", - she said.

The main exhibits are the famous Easter eggs, which were made by the house of Faberge by the order of Emperor Alexander III and Nicholas II. The exhibition features three eggs from the Armory, and one is from the Fersman Mineralogical Museum. Visitors will also be able to appreciate the skill of jewelers' "Silver Age of Russian culture", a producer of women's jewelry, silver tableware and crystal, stone carving, engraving.

The exhibition will run till January 3, 2013.
