The Presidential Library: New acquisitions

The Presidential Library collection the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): page of history has been enriched with materials provided by the State Public Historical Library (SPHL), the State Archive of the Russian Federation (SARF), the Library for Natural Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (LNS), the Russian State Historical Archive (RSHA).

The publication of the Central Statistical Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the towns and villages in 1893. Issue. 9: the Yakutsk region (St. Petersburg, 1894) describes the region's geographical position, climate, mineral resources, water resources, means of communication, industry, trade, population, fisheries, education, besides the statistical data on the townships and settlements of Yakutia. The publication has an application in the form of maps.

The materials of the division into districts of the Yakut ASSR: 1924-1925. (GARF. F. R6984. Op. 1. Case 118) provide information on extending the territory of the Yakut ASSR. The publication has an application in the form of a map of the national composition of the Southern part of KazUSSR, attached from Turkestan Republic. 

The historical and ethnographic study of a scholar and writer V. L. Seroshevsky Yakuts. Volume 1 (St. Petersburg, 1896) describes the author's journey in 1880-1890s to the Yakut land where the information about the geography, climate, vegetation, wildlife and domestic animals of the Yakuts was gathered. The book tells the story of southern origin and dispersal of the Yakuts, the physical features of the Yakut tribes, the economic fundamentals of life, about clothes, food, buildings, arts and crafts, and the distribution of wealth, working conditions and employment, on tribal system, marriage, family and children of the Yakut people.

The book by D. A. Kochnev Essays of the legal life of the Yakuts (Kazan, 1899) describes the geographical location of the Yakutsk region, the origins of the Yakuts, their beliefs, tribal organization of between birth relations, self-management, social and property relations, mandatory law, land use, family law, marriage, its history, the system of kinship, guardianship, inheritance and criminal law, court systems and procedures, as well as the impact the Russians to the legal life of the Yakuts.

Statistics on industry, agriculture and housing and communal services, transport, construction and other are given in the publication The national economic plan of the Yakut ASSR, 1932 (Yakutsk, 1932).    

The book by M. A. Rogalevich Horse breeding of the Yakut ASSR (Moscow, 1941) tells about the types of Yakut horse, methods of its breeding, feeding, housing, use. The book gives a brief description of feeding conditions and prey, developed measures to improve the horse of the Yakut ASSR.

The collection also presents Case on Consideration and Approval in the Council of Ministers of public education Minister on February 1, 1908 for allotment of funds for equipment by the academy of Science to the expedition to Ust-Yansky District of the Yakutsk region for excavations, discovered remains of the mammoth and deliver them to the Zoological Museum of Saint-Petersburg as well as to conduct geological surveys on the coast of the Arctic Ocean between the Yana river and the Indigirka (RGIA. F. 1276. Inv. 4. Case 667).
