The Presidential Library: New acquisitions

The Presidential library’s holdings have been enriched with materials provided by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.

The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation (CEC) is the federal government body charged with the preparation and conduct of elections and referenda in the Russian Federation in accordance with the competence established by federal law. The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation operates on the constant basis, its term of office is five years. Since 1995, the Russian Central Election Commission consists of 15 members, 5 of which are appointed by the President of Russia, 5 – by the Council of the Federation, 5 – by the State Duma. The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation within its competence manages the electoral commissions engaged with the elections to the federal government bodies, as well as with organizing the Referendum of the Russian Federation.

Retrospective review of the documents (ballot papers and legislative acts) covers the period from 21 September 1993, when the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation was established upon the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, till 1994.

The ballots of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation of 1993 (№ 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11) and of 1994 (№ 2 (13) 3 (14) 4 (15) 5 (16) , 6 (17) 7 (18) 8 (19), 9 (20) 11 (22) 12 (23) 14 (25) 15 (26)) contain the following materials: articles, speeches and resolutions of the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, N. T. Ryabov; Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, S. A. Filatov; Secretary of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, I. V. Galushko; Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, S. N. Samoilov; Head of the Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, A. M. Hvalin.

Also, resolutions and appeals of the CEC regarding the elections to the Council of the Federation and the elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the provisions on the election of deputies to the State Duma, the decrees of the President of the Russian Federation concerning the elections, the resolution of the CEC on the voting results, lists of deputies, the results of the election of the deputies of the Federation Council, the plans of the CEC, the draft laws "On basic guarantees of electoral rights of citizens of Russia”, etc.
