History of Russia: Exhibition “Staraya Ladoga. Ancient capital of the Northern Rus’” in Saint-Petersburg

November 16, 2012 the exhibition "Staraya Ladoga. The ancient capital of Northern Rus’" opens at the Peter and Paul Fortress (St. Petersburg).

A joint exhibition of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg and the Staraya Ladoga historical, architectural and archaeological Museum Reserve is timed to the celebration of the anniversary - the 1150th anniversary of the origin of the Russian statehood. It brought together the archaeological and contemporary photographs of Staraya Ladoga, made by a professional photographer and student Michael Udalov and a student of a photo studio "Ladoga" (Novaya Ladoga).

The exhibition includes about two hundred archaeological finds relating to the Old Time and the Early Middle Ages, from the collection of the Staraya Ladoga historical, architectural and archaeological museum. Among them are bone combs, buckles, seals and jewelry made of glass, as well as bronze, silver, copper and other metals, a cross made of amber, keys, fragments of weapons and household objects: spoons, vessels, pottery.
