Internet and society: Domain .рф is the most successful among the country’s top level domains

The National domain .рф is the most successful among internationalized top-level domains (IDN). It is reported by the Coordination Center of the national domain of the Internet with the reference to the report on the development of IDN-domains of European registry EURid. The study was conducted in cooperation with international organization UNESCO.

According to experts of EURid, the monthly increase of the Cyrillic domain is comparable to the growth of the domain .ru, as the study notes that the number of registered domain names in the area will increase, that is .рф has good prospects for its development. The rating EURid and UNESCO also included country domains of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Korea.

According to the statistics of the resource “Domains of Russia”, the number of domain names in .рф has over 845 thousand, of which over 73% are delegated. The growth of domains .рф for the last week was more than two thousand names.

In should be noted that November 11 of this year there was held the second anniversary of the Cyrillic domain since the start of open registration. During the first days there were registered over 240 thousand domain names, for the first month – over 700 thousand names. At the time of the first anniversary in the zone .рф there were existed over 826 thousand names.
