Society and culture: The Saint-Petersburg International Cultural Forum is taking place

9 November 2012

November 9-11, 2012 is taking place the Saint-Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

The Forum’s motto is the ancient phrase Urbi et Orbi (‘of the city and the world’). The organizers invoked this historical address directed towards – to use a modern term – ‘world society’, to emphasize the significance of the fundamental principles underlying the Forum. The core of the message is that today’s challenges must be based on the preservation of cultural constants and transparent cultural processes.

The Forum’s plenary session will take place at the Mikhailovsky Theatre on November 10, whilst panel discussions are scheduled to be held at other cultural institutions located on or near Arts Square.

Regional and national leaders, top-ranking officials in the cultural sector, and leading figures from the world of culture and art will be arriving in St. Petersburg to take part in the Forum’s events. Heads of international cultural institutions have also expressed an interest in the Forum.

In the framework of the Forum there will be held the Congress of Rectors of European conservatories and higher music schools, as well as the VII International Forum of young journalists of the electronic media in Europe and Asia “Dialogue of Cultures”. It is suggested that these events will be attended by 400 guests of the Forum.
