6 November 2012

The Institute of Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS IMBIT) installed book scanner ELAR PlanSkan series "Repro".

The equipment is designed to scan and large-stitched documents, including books and ancient tomes.

The Center of Oriental manuscripts and block-prints IMBIT RAS has a rich collection of manuscripts and early incunabula in Eastern languages, including Tibetan and Mongolian. Digitizing them will turn to unique sources of a large number of researchers who study the written records of the peoples of Inner Asia.
