
World culture: Van Gogh’s works to be displayed at TEFAF in Masstricht
Vincent van Gogh’s drawings from the collection of his museum in Amsterdam will be displayed in the TEFAF graphic arts section that will take place in Maastricht 15-24 March, 2013.
On the whole, the exposition will feature 15 rare drawings of Van Gogh reflecting all main stages of his work. Chronologically, the exhibition starts with his first Hague’s drawings when he focused a lot on depicting a figure and landscapes, followed by impressive landscape sketches made in Nefenen and his Parisian watercolors. In addition, this small exhibition displays the works made by the artist in Arles on the peak of his talent, as well as in Auvers and Saint-Remy.
TEFAF in one of the major antiques fairs in the world where one can purchase the most various items – from archaeological objects to paintings of modern artists. However, TEFAF’s main difference from other art-fairs is its strong sector of Old artists.
Among the exhibits – an unique object that belonged to Nicholas II – a seal made by Faberge with the lead bullet installed in it that nearly hit the emperor during Epiphany celebrations on the Neva in 1905.
