
Information technology and history: Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug created an electronic Memory Book
Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug created an electronic Memory Book, which is designed to preserve the memory of Yamal peoples who died during the Great Patriotic War, as well as on the participants of convoy DB-5, sunk by German submarine on August 12, 1944. This was told by employees of the District Museum and Exhibition Complex of J. S. Shemanovsky where on December 25, 2012 was held the Presentation of the book.
It collected data on 3802 soldiers. As stated at the web site of the Memory Book, it was based on the information of data bank, which included the killed people during the Great Patriotic War, died of wounds and disease in hospitals in 1941-45, as well as missing.
The information about the history of the convoy DB-5 contains data on 703 participants, information about another 25 require further examination. The organizers of an international search operation "Convoy DB-5" reminded us that the victims of the tragedy were 376 Soviet soldiers and workers of the rear of 760 marched in the convoy.
