Memory of Russia: Exhibition “The people’s feat. Russia in the war of 1812-1813” in Belgorod

December 21, 2012 in Belgorod, the Pushkin Museum Library opens an exhibition “The people’s fate. Russia in the war of 1812-1813”, presented graphics of the XIX-XX centuries.

The exposition includes about 40 engravings from the collection o the professor Vladimir Belikov (Moscow), which were exposed at 265 exhibitions. It is open with satirical leaflets of 1812 and stylized of folk splint sheets, made by professional artists A. Venetsianov and I. Terebenev.

The exhibition features portraits of Alexander I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Russian and French generals, portrayed as Russian graphic artists (P. Bunin, N. Rodionov, A. Suvorov) and foreign masters (Ch. Boer, P. Vallo, T. Gautier, Ladier). Here you can see illustrations to literary works dedicated to the War of 1812: easel lithographs by V. Koltunov to the “War and Peace” of Leo Tolstoy, graphics by P. Bunin to the “Borodino” of M. Lermontov and engravings by N. Domashenko to fables of I. Krylov.

The exhibition will run till February 2013.
