History of Russia: Exhibition “95 years of the Cheka – the FSB” in Saratov

The Saratov Regional Local History Museum opened an exhibition, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the founding of state security bodies in the country. This is a joint project of the Office of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Saratov region and the regional local history museum.

December 7 (20), 1917 there was created the first in the history of Soviet Russia the state security agency – the All-Russian extraordinary Commission for Combating Counterrevolution and Sabotage. The Saratov Cheka was established as one of the first in the country.

The exhibition features photographs, documents and personal things of the employees of the Saratov FunCHk. 

April 3, 1995 there was signed a decree of the President of Russia on the Federal Security Service establishment (FSB).

The exhibited photographs reflect the FSB Special Forces soldiers, caches agents of foreign intelligence, objects of historical value, the FSB officials seized at airports of Saratov and Moscow.
