Society and culture: Exhibition project “Secrets of Zlatoust. Art of the Ural gunsmiths of the XIX-XXI centuries” in Moscow

December 13, 2012 at the Moscow Reserve “Kolomenskoye” opens an exhibition “Secrets of Zlatoust. Art of the Ural gunsmiths of the XIX-XXI centuries”.

The exhibition demonstrates the “Zlatoust style”, received the worldwide recognition for two hundred of its existence. The exhibition features about 400 works of exceptional art and historical value from the collection of Zlatoust museums, private collections. This is not just rewarding, ceremonial weapon made shortly after the end of the Patriotic War of 1812, but also household items: trays, vases, and cutlery. At its core these are outstanding works of Russian decorative-applied art.

The pearl of the exhibition, undoubtedly, are children armor, made for the 13 years old heir, the future Emperor Alexander III. Made according to the project they demonstrate all the technical and art techniques, know in Zlatoust.

Works of contemporary artists also attract the attention. They give the full understanding that the Zlatoust tradition not only lives but is successfully developing.

The exhibition is accompanied by a showing of documentaries and short films and multimedia programs. The exhibition runs until February 24, 2013.
