Internet and society: The number of web sites in the web exceeded 633 million

According to web monitoring company Netcraft, as of the early December the Internet had 633 706 564 web sites and personal blogs that are 8 million more than a previous month. Of all the software web servers the most significant increase of user’s base showed Microsoft IIS, which served to increase the base by 8.2 million project on the second server with Apache 4.7 million of new serviced sites.

As a result of the redistribution of market shares of servers, Apache decreased the market share by 1, 53% but the server still takes more than half of the market of web servers - 55, 70%.

Netcraft also notes the growing popularity of server nginx, whose base is increased by another 2 million hosts. Among the millions of the most visited sites in the Internet share of nginx now reached its historical high and amounts to 12.44%. Also Microsoft in this category improved its performance, the server of which serves 13.22% of the most visited resources.
