Information technology and archives: Inventory of Federal Archives of the Russian Federation to be available in the Internet

Inventory of Federal Archives of the Russian Federation are translated into electronic data bases format.

The works were carried out by the “Electronic Archive” Corporation with fund groups of the State Archive of the Russian Federation (SARF) and the Russian State Archive of Economy (RSAE) in the framework of the federal target program “Culture of Russia (2012-2018)”. The project is aimed at the improving of the effectiveness work with citizens as well as the providing of the access to the information on the documents of federal archives through the Internet.

“Electronic Archive” specialists have scanned and indexed more than 35 000 of documents-sources of SARF and more than 24 000 pages of inventory of RSAE. Works on array index and a database on 480,000 of titles of archive files were carried out.

Created information resources were loaded to the software system “Archive fund” 4.3. and to information system “reading room” of the SARF and SRAE.

Database files are also transferred to the Russian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation to download the information system "Central stock catalog". By this system Internet users can find information about the archival collections held at Russian archives.
