Memory of Russia: Unique models of weapons and firearms are presented at the exhibition in Izhevsk

December 6, 2012 the Kalashnikov Museum and Exhibition Complex in Izhevsk opens a new exhibition “The gun, the uniform and a tin soldier” from the collection of the A. V. Suvorov Memorial Museum (Saint-Petersburg).

Glorious pages of the military past of Russia since the end of the XVIII century and till the middle of the XX century will be open through museum relics.

The exposition presents unique models of weapons and firearms of the 18-19 centuries both domestic and foreign production.

A rarity subject of the exhibition is undoubtedly a sword that belonged to Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov - the greatest Russian general.

No less valuable exhibit is a cavalry officer's sword (1798) with George Lanyard, belonged to Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich, the brother of Emperor Nicholas I, General field marshal headed by the Chief Ordnance Department and the commander of the Russian Guard. Mikhail Pavlovich was the highest chief of the Izhevsk arms factory in the second quarter of the XIX century.

The Suvorov Museum has a large collection of uniforms, including the largest collection of uniforms of the Russian Army of the era of Paul I. Soldier and officer uniforms of different compounds including the Guards of the 18-19 centuries form a separate section of the exhibition.

In addition to the traditional items – weapons, uniforms, equipment – the exhibition features reconstructions of battles, consisting of tin soldiers. More than 1000 handmade soldiers will tell about famous battles.

The attention of visitors will be paid to the collection of painting and sculpture, presented at the exhibition.
