Russian culture abroad: Exhibition of the contemporary Russian literature in India

The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Mumbai (India) opened an exhibition of modern Russian history. Reference books on the Russian language, books on the history and culture of Russia, linguistic manuals, children publications, and art works of classical and contemporary Russian writers are presented.

The exhibition is part of the complex of scientific and methodological events on problems of teaching Russian language as foreign language for Russian studies universities, schools and colleges of the West India as well as compatriots living in Mumbai consular district. Rossotrudnichestvo and the L. N. Tolstoy Tula State Pedagogical University hold a series of activities as part of the federal target program “Russian language” in 2011-2015.

The stands of the RCSC present books of 25 Russian publishing houses. A separate part of the exposition present publications related to the biography and works by Leo Tolstoy, named after the Tula State Pedagogical University. These are biographical publications, guide books to places of Tolstoy's Russia, and, of course, the works of Leo Tolstoy, among which you can select it especially children's books - the famous "Alphabet", recognized as outstanding phenomenon in pedagogy, unique reprint of "Stories for Children" in graphics Natalia Chelpanov-Paren, first published in the 30s years of the XX century.

Readers of library, acting under RCSC in Mumbai, will be available works of Russian writers – the nominees and winners of the All-Russian Literary Award “Yasnaya Polyana”, established in 2003.

All the books brought from Russia by the delegation of the L. N. Tolstoy Tula State Pedagogical University are given to the Russian Center of Science and Culture to Mumbai.
