To the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty: “Around the throne” project starts in Saint-Petersburg

29 January 2013

29 January 2013 at the State Museum of Political History of Russia opens the first exhibition of the project “Around the throne”, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the accession of the Romanov Dynasty.

The project “Around the throne” consists of fourteen exhibitions of one exhibit, which will be on display throughout 2013.

As the first exhibit, opening the exhibition project, the museum presents the handwritten list of the early XIX century with a genuine of 1619 Charter of Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich Romanov to the boyar Shipilov Bogdan Vasilyavich on earth.

The date of the founding of the dynasty became a turning point in the history of Russia. The accession of Mikhail Romanov, elected to the throne by Zemsky Sobor, put an end to the “Time of Troubles” and it gave a stimulus to the further consolidation of the country. An echo of events of 400 years ago contains “Patent charter to the land…” from the first tsar of the Romanov dynasty – Mikhail Feodorovich to the Novgorod boyar Bogdan Vasilyevich Shipilov for bravery to throne and battle with the “Polish and German people”.
