The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an independent international organization founded in 1971 in Geneva. Members include over one thousand large companies and organizations from over 50 nations, of which about 20 are business organizations from Russia. The Forum aims to help the global community resolve socioeconomic issues and to expand international trade and economic cooperation.

Many groups and clubs with different professional interests have been created within WEF, including business leaders, heads of leading global media outlets, heads of companies and organizations of various industries, heads of national research organizations, and outstanding individuals from the arts. In recent years, the Global Leaders of Tomorrow and High Technology Pioneers associations have been formed.
