Russian culture abroad: Russian center opened in a Finnish-Russian school in Helsinki
In a Finnish-Russian School in Helsinki January 18, 2013 re-opened the Russian Center. Previously, it was housed by the library of the Institute of Russia and Eastern Europe, but in connection with the reorganization of the latter, upon the decision of the Government of Finland, there was no possibility to maintain the Centre within the new institution. In this regard, the Russian Center in Helsinki was transferred to the Finnish-Russian school, where more than 700 students aged 6 to 19 years are studying Russian language as a compulsory subject, and a number of subjects in Russian.
Opening of the Russian Center at the school coincided with the end of the Week of the Russian language, which included competitions of works about Russia and the Russian language, essays, readers, amateur talent activities, and many other fun activities.
The participants of the opening ceremony noted that the transfer of the Russian Center to the Finnish-Russian school will increase its importance in supporting the teaching of the Russian language. Now not only the students of the school, but their parents will have an opportunity to use of the center’s services.
