Russian regions: Smolensk has become the winner of the Internet project “City of Russia. National choice – 2012”

The winner of the Internet project “City of Russia. National choice -2012” became Smolensk, which was voted for almost 259 thousand people.

The competition included administrative centers of regions of the Russian Federation, who voted for more than 7 million Russians.

In the top ten cities of the country, according to the results of voting, were also included Pskov, Irkutsk, Novgorod, Cheboksary, Ulan-Ude, Tyumen, Ufa, Vladivostok, Nalchik. Saint-Petersburg took the 35th place, while Moscow took only the 57 line of rating. Makhachkala completed the list.

“The project presented limitless possibilities for people to learn a lot about new and interesting about culture and sights of cities of Russia, newly revived the interest to the tourism and travel through the country”, - the report at the project web site notes.

The internet project "City of Russia" – is a national project, organized in order to support the national development and self-generation, preservation of cultural and historical heritage of the Russian state. The project was held as part of the Year of Russian history.
