Memory of Russia: Temple burial vault of Kutuzov’s parents to be restored in the Pskov region

Pskov authorities in 2013 will start restoration works of a unique monument of wooden architecture of the XVIII century – the Temple of Resurrection – the burial vault of parents of the hero of the Patriotic War of 1812  Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov, said representative of the regional administration.

The Temple of Resurrection in the village Tereben of the Opochetsky district – is one of the few surviving monuments of wooden architecture of the XVIII century. Its basement keeps a crypt, where parents of Field Marshal Kutuzov – lieutenant-General Illarion Matveevich Golenischev-Kutuzov and his wife Anna Illarionovna (born Bedrinskaya) are buried. The temple is the object of the cultural heritage of the regional significance. In 1985 near the temple there was opened a parish school. The temple interior retained old iconostasis and decoration.

The crypt was discovered at the end of the XX century. The estate of the Golenischev-Kutusovs Stupino was nearby. At the cemetery near the church there has also been preserved an ancestral crypt of the Lvovs landowners, graves of the Karaulovs landowners and several ancient stone crosses.
