Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibitions, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, to be held in Moscow

To the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, which will be celebrated in 2013, the State Historical Museum has prepared a number of exhibitions.

In March 2013 there will be open the exhibition “The Romanovs. The Dynasty”, timed to the 400th anniversary of the election of Mikhail Feodorovich Romanov to a coronation. To the anniversary of this event, the Historical Museum in cooperation with Russian and foreign museums and archives provide outstanding monuments of the epoch, which played an important role in the historical fate of Russia. After the Time of Troubles, ravaged the country in the early XVII century, to the Russian throne by “council of all the land”, was elected the new patriarch of the royal dynasty. At the first Romanovs Russia completed the medieval period in its history and was on the verge of coming changes.

And in September 2013 there will be open the exhibition “The Romanovs. The Portrait of a Dynasty”. The “Romanov portrait” will be presented in sculpture, painting, drawing, miniature and photographs from the collection of the Historical Museum. In addition to the portrait the exhibition will feature Romanov |memoirs” – personal things, autographs, pictures, gifts. Many unique monuments will be exhibited for the first time.
