Society and media: The meeting of representatives of the largest international TV companies planning to cover events of the Olympic Games 2014 is held in Sochi

The international meeting of broadcasters planning to cover events of the Olympic Games 2014 began its work in Sochi. For the second time the capital of the upcoming Olympic Games accepted more than 200 representatives of the largest international TV companies.

The main purpose of the meeting is the familiarity with terms of the works of the press at the Games-2014. “In accordance of the plans of organizers of the Games, the located in the Imeretin Valley building of the Main Media Center will become the main venue where in 2014 there will be produced the TV signal of the Olympic Games. By its total area – 158 000 square meters – the Main Media Center is seven times surpasses the Moscow Red Square. The works to equip the facility, in accordance with the requirements of TV broadcasters, the Olympic Broadcasting Service, responsible for the productions of international broadcasts and service to broadcasters, will start working in May 2013”, - noted the Organizing Committee.

From the Main Media Center the events of the Sochi Olympiad will be covered by 12 thousand representatives of the media, 10 thousand of whom are TV and radio journalists, presented hundreds of companies of the whole world. The Media Center building adjoins the territory of the Olympic Park, thus providing the convenient direct access of press to the Olympic objects of the Coastal Cluster.

The Main Media Center will be fully operated for one month before the start of the Olympic Games – January 7, 2014 and it will be closed after the Paralympics Games – March, 17.  On January 24, 2014 and throughout the Olympic Games the Center will work round-the-clock. In the Mountain cluster representatives of TV companies will be placed at the media center “Gorki”, which includes the broadcast and press-centers. The total area of the object is 31 thousand square kilometers.

At all Olympic objects of Sochi will be working their own press-centers. At the objects of the Mountain cluster will be open three hours before the start of competitions and will be closed four hours after their completion, and the objects of the Coastal cluster – two hours before and three hours after competitions.
