World culture: Exhibition “Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel” in Helsinki

In the Sinebrychoff Art Museum (Helsinki) opened the exhibition “Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel”, first presented the works of great Italian masters of the Renaissance in Finland.

The exposition includes art drawings and paintings from the collection of the House-Museum of Michelangelo Casa Buonarroti in Florence, a place of memory and honor of genius. The cores of the exhibition are fifteen sketches of master to outline its main scenic masterpiece - painted ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Through the drawings, which had hand prints of the artist, you can follow the process of creating the famous frescoes.

Besides, the exhibition tells about the life of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564), the history of the house Casa Buonarroti, as well as it presents a series of engravings with views of the Sistine Chapel, made by the Italian engraving master Giorgio Gysi (1520-1582).
