Russian regions: Days of the Arctic to be held in Arkhangelsk

From February 25-28 the Days of the Arctic will be held in Arkhangelsk. The event is aimed at promoting the study of the Arctic territories, strengthening of the status of the university as the base platform for the discussion of problems and prospects of the Russian Arctic, its biodiversity, the history and prospects of development as well as to attract interest of local media to the Arctic theme.

The Days of the Arctic will open the large scale photo exhibition “The look to the Arctic”. Unique photographs, presented at the exhibition, are created in the territory of one of the youngest and largest national parks “The Russian Arctic” in Russia and the Federal Reserve “Franz Josef Land”.

Also in the framework of the event from February 25-28 the Arkhangelsk students will listen to lectures of the workers of the National park “The Russian Arctic” and see the screening of the film of the Arkhangelsk journalist Marina Menshikova “It is it, the Arctic”.

The culmination will be the international conference-Webinar “Day of the Arctic in the Presidential Library”, which will take place on February 28 on the basis of SAFU (Arkhangelsk) and the Presidential Library (St. Petersburg). The conference will be attended by the federal universities of Russia, as well as University of the Arctic of Finland, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Denmark, the United States and Iceland.
