President of Russia: Vladimir Putin presented the updated Conception of foreign policy of the Russian Federation

At a meeting with members of the Security Council Vladimir Putin presented the updated Conception of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation.

The document formulates the recent changes in the world. Among them President noted the global financial crisis, the redistribution of the balance in the world, the increased tension in the Middle East and North Africa. 

Besides, the Conception reflects the need to maintain the decisive role of the UN and the international law, as well as the necessary attention to the protection of the rights and interests of Russian citizens and compatriots abroad.

- The Conception emphasizes the use of modern forms and methods of foreign policy, including economic diplomacy, the introduction of so called soft power elements, and the competent integration into the global information laws. The necessary attention is dedicated to the rights and interests of our citizens and compatriots abroad, - said Putin.

In his speech the Head of the Government said: “Russia will continue to pursue an active constructive line in international affairs. Its weigh and influence in the world will be strengthened”.
