To the day of the Defender of Fatherland: Exhibition of awards “Signs of memory” in Yekaterinburg
In the Museum of stone-cutting and jewelry art history (Yekaterinburg) to the Day of the defender of Fatherland opened the exhibition “Signs of memory” dedicated to the awards and memorable signs that existed in the Russian state starting from the earliest times and ending with today’s days.
The earliest exhibits - neck-ring and buckets - dated the XII-XVII centuries. Hryvnas served not only as an ornament, but also like decoration, and a reward of merit. The buckets were presented to the christening, for charges fees for taking part in the fighting.
The history of the reward system in Russia is to lead from the Order of St. Andrew, approved by Peter the Great. At the exhibition of Imperial Russia are presented signs of Order of St. Vladimir, St. Anne and St. Stanislaus.
Another interesting tradition is to reward warriors with weapons that originated in Russia in the XVII century. During the Patriotic War of 1812, the award weapon becomes popular, and this tradition continued until the 1917 revolution. The exhibition features European and east edged weapons of the XVIII-XIX centuries, and modern decorated weapon of Zlatoust masters.
During the Great Patriotic War in the USSR were established 10 orders and 21 medals. This was reminiscent of the terrible time the gifts, commemorative medals also presented at the exposition.
The history of Russia minted in the coins. Many of Russian and foreign productions were devoted to great historical events, outstanding generals, famous tanks and ships. They can also be seen in the exhibition.
