Museums of Russia: The City History Museum is open in Vladikavkaz

After many years of repair the City History Museum opened in Vladikavkaz. The branch of the National Museum of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, it was created in 1994 and it is housed in a mansion Art Nouveau of architect Descubess.

The museum collections include almost 30 thousand units. The new exposition is devoted to the base in 1784 the fortress of Vladikavkaz. Unique ethnographic curiosities, edged weapons and firearms, national costumes are exhibited. Several rooms are devoted to the history of the building, where before housed editorial offices of newspapers “Terek” e and “Kazbek”. Refurbished printing presses are presented.
