Society and culture: Collection of Gosteleradiofond has been enriched with unique materials

12 February 2013

The Gosteleradiofond collection has been enriched with unique materials. This is an archive of the Irkutsk radio - about 30,000 films on which are written literature, children, art programs, and interviews.

These programs were broadcasted since the 40s of the last century. This archive is donated by the founder and author of the project “Old Radio” Yuri Metelkin to the Gosteleradiofond.

The audio library was discovered last year in one of the military units near Irkutsk. In dozens of boxes were stored 80,000 reels. While to the archive of Gosteleradiofond was transferred only a part of the collection.

After digitizing the records once again will be return to the big air. It is planned that this event will be the start of a joint project of the “Old Radio” and Gosteleradiofond to preserve and return to broadcast the sound archives.
