Society and culture: Exhibition “Ceramics and graphics by Pablo Picasso: in Izhevsk
February 7, 2013 at the Udmurt Republican Museum of Fine Arts (Izhevsk) opens the exhibition “Ceramics and graphics of Pablo Picasso” from the collection of Alexander Shadrin.
The great Spanish artist Pablo Picasso in 1946 met a young married couple George and Suzanne Ramier, who had a pottery “Madoura”. Thanks to couple Ramier Picasso mastered the craft potter. In the workshop “Madoura” the great Spaniard spent more than a quarter century, until 1972. During this time, Picasso created hundreds of ceramic products in a unique style. Spouses Ramier gathered an impressive collection of ceramics and graphics by Pablo Picasso, which was inherited by their son, Alan Ramier. In June 2012, Alan Ramier put his entire collection of Picasso at Christie's auction. Works by Pablo Picasso, presented in the exhibition, are part of a collection of Alan Ramier, which Alexander Shadrin won at this auction. So, the works that have not left their workshop “Madoura” for a half-century appeared in Russia.
The exhibition of ceramics and graphics is chosen so as to cover all the most important stories from the work of Pablo Picasso.
