
Book publishing and book distribution: Russian has become the guest of honor of the XX Minsk International Book Fair
About two thousand of two hundred Russian publishing houses will be presented at the XX Minsk International Book Fair, which runs from 6 to 10 February 2013 in the pavilion “BelExpo”.
Russia this year has become the guest of honor at the Minsk Book Fair. The program of the Russian national stand includes round tables, workshops, book presentations, meetings with authors. Belarus will meet such writers as Alexander Prokhanov, Alexander Kazintsev, Nikolai Doroshenko, Gennady Kudiy, secretaries of the Union of Writers of Russia poets Gennady Ivanov and Sergey Dmitriev. There will work units “Fiction”, “World of Slavic culture”, “History. Culture. Science. Education”, publications for children and young people.
In addition, two exhibitions will be open. The photo exhibition “Time and people through the lens of Yuri Abramochkin”, master who captured almost every moment of the history of the beginning of the Soviet Union, and then Russia for many decades. There is also a display “The Art of book design”, which will include the best works of the students of the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Moscow State University of Printing.
Also on February 6, at the National Stand of Belarus is held the presentation of faximile edition of the Gospel of Polotsk. This event is one of the most important on the first day of the work of the XX Minsk International Book Fair. Founded in Polotsk in the XII century, the handwritten Gospel is one of the oldest monuments of national literary culture. The release of the facsimile edition is the result of years of joint work of the National Library, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian Exarchate publishers, and the Russian State Library in Moscow and the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg.
