Russian language: The meeting of the Council of Governor of Saint-Petersburg took place
February 1, 2013 in Smolny took place the meeting of the Council of Governor of Saint-Petersburg for Culture. The meeting was attended by co-chairs of the Council of Vice President of Saint-Petersburg Vasily Kichedzhi and Honorary Citizen of Saint-Petersburg, President of the Saint-Petersburg State University Lyudmila Verbitskaya, as well as other members of the Council – linguists, leaders of educational and scientific institutions, writers, actors, TV hosts.
At the meeting of the Council for Culture were made the next decisions: to draft the rules of use of foreign words in advertising and in the urban environment; to explore the possibility of the transfer of the Russian language in one of the TV channels; to prepare the “Petersburg” list of the “100 Best Books” recommended for reading by pupils of schools; to continue to place the social outdoor advertising that promotes the speech standards.
The Council for culture speech of the Governor of St. Petersburg was founded in 2010. By the resolution of St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko on December 3, 2012 it was approved the new Council of speech, which included 32 specialists in the field.
According to the Regulation on the Council its main objectives are:
- Ensuring of interaction between authorities and public association in the field of research, development and the use of the Russian language;
- Analysis of education in the field of the Russian language;
- To inform the Governor of Saint-Petersburg and the Government of the city about the most burning issues in the field.
