Society and culture: Exhibition of illustrations to the works of I. S. Turgenev in Bryansk

February 5, 2013 the State Memorial and Natural Museum Reserve of I. S. Turgenev “Spasskoye-Lutovinovo” presents at the Bryansk Regional Art Museum exhibition Center the exhibition of illustrations to the works of I. S. Turgenev “How I love that beautiful fiction…”.

The visitors’ attention is paid to more than 50 lithographs and drawings to the works of I. S. Turgenev – early poems, the cycle of short stories “The Hunting Sketches”, tales and novels, poems and prose. Exhibited at the exhibition works are implemented in different manner and technique (charcoal, ink, pencil, watercolor), they are differed with a great variety of subjects. Among the authors of illustrations are acknowledged masters of the genre.

The interior decoration designs to the film “Asya” (1928), implemented by the famous theatre artist B. A. Almedingen, are of special attention.

The best examples (works by B. M. Kustodiev, A. A. Agina, and V. A. Vatagina) are the book drawings. Visitors can see some (Russian and foreign) publications of works of I. S. Turgenev (both the first and lifetime, and reprinted throughout the XX century to the present day); works of applied art, objects of the noble life.

The exhibition will run till February 25.
