The official blog of Google informed that it has launched a simplified and light version of the service of user maps - Google Maps Engine Lite.

The product, which is still only supports English, is extremely simplified, and the amount of information uploaded by users is limited. The service allows you to observe small areas of space or objects on the map, use a variety of styles and tools for drawing and recreate the look of any sites.

The maps consist of several layers. Users can draw on these lines, to highlight specific areas, observe some important places of special figures (they are in the program, there are about 150). Google offers a choice of nine base maps, including maps of satellite and terrain maps, and maps indicating the boundaries of cities, states and designated the main highways.

In a blog post of Google it is said that the program My Maps, released earlier and making it possible to create and edit maps, will soon be integrated with Google Maps Engine Lite. My Maps users will be able to move their created maps to the new service.
