To the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty: Exhibition “Romanovs. First Tsars of the Dynasty” in the State Historical Museum

March 20, 2013 in the State Historical Museum in Moscow opened the exhibition “Romanovs. First Tsars of the Dynasty”.

The Moscow Kremlin Museums participate in the international exhibition project, carried out by the State Historical Museum to mark the 400th Anniversary of the Mikhail Fyodorovich Romanov's ascension to the throne. The founder of the new royal dynasty Romanov witnessed the end of the Time of Troubles and of the Russian medieval period in whole. The first Romanov proclaimed the beginning of a new epoch in the history of Russia, distinguished by the further political and culture reformations. At the exhibition, Russian and foreign museums, as well as archives feature brilliant monuments of the epoch, which played an important role in the historical fate of Russia.

The project, supported by the Russian and foreign museums, archives, presents magnificent artworks and historical documents of the period. Remarkable articles of the XVIIth century are on loan from the Moscow Kremlin Museums, i.e. pieces of precious tableware and ceremonial arms and armor, which had belonged to the first tsars of the Romanov dynasty.
