Libraries and copyright: The 10th conference “Local lore publications and copyright issues” in Saint-Petersburg

March 14, 2013 the V. V. Mayakovski Central City Public Library (St. Petersburg) is hosting the conference “Local lore publications and copyright”, prepared with the assistance of the Russian Library Association.

The study of local lore today is an attractive area of ​​knowledge. In the study of the city of St. Petersburg, i.e. Petersburg studies, is engaged in numerous scientific, educational, cultural, educational and community organizations. Books and periodicals, devoted to St. Petersburg, are published, as well as broadcasted on radio and television channels, devoted to the topic of dozens of Internet web sites.

The legal aspect in the field of publishing of local lore is determined, first of all, by part 4 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, as well as it respects to the matters governed by the laws “On Archive of the Russian Federation” and “On the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation and the museums in the Russian Federation”.

The conference is supposed to discuss the following issues:

- The copyright to works, published in works and collections.

- The free use of published works (printed and electronic) in the scientific and cultural purposes, and the rights of authors and publishers. Terms of publication of archival documents in regional editions.

- The Illustrated regional editions: using images of museum objects and buildings.

- Future development of the national copyright law in light of international experience. Expansion of the public domain.

- The right to name the organization, operations and services.

- Experience in the field of publishing of local lore.
