History of Russia: Exhibition “And the Tsars need a rest” in Gatchina
March 13, 2013 in the exhibition halls of the Arsenal square of the Palace and Museum “Gatchina” opens the exhibition “And the Tsars need a rest”, dedicated to the Gatchina parks - a place of leisure of the Russian emperors.
For crowned masters Gatchina has always has been a place of quiet rest, where you can escape from the bustle of the capital, to find activities and entertainment to taste. Members of the royal family are not only relaxing here, but also landscaping neighborhood around the palace, carefully preserved and increased the beauty of the local nature.
Hunting and fishing, water rides, games, and work in the open air in the Gatchina estate - all this is depicted in the paintings, drawings, porcelain, plastic, photographs from the collections of Museum and other collections.
Visitors can also see examples of landscape architecture, destroyed in the war and reconstructed so far only in skillful layouts.
