
History and culture: Exhibition, timed to the 100th anniversary of the International Women’s Day, in Saint-Petersburg
March 1, 2013 in the exhibition hall at Johann Ravelin of the Peter and Paul fortress (St. Petersburg), took place the grand opening of the exhibition “All people – sisters”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day in St. Petersburg.
The appearance of the holiday is associated with the name of Clara Zetkin, who in 1910 invited to celebrate the International Women's Day - the day of the fight for human rights and political freedom of women - March 8 - by the date of the first manifestation of women for their rights, held in New York on March 8, 1857.
Visitors of the exposition are offered paintings and drawings, posters, postcards, china, household items, costumes from the collection of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. The exhibits tell the story of the most popular women's holiday in Russia, as well as allow trace the rapid evolution of the image of the woman in the XX century: her appearance, position in the family and society.
