1 March 2013

The development of the historical education, the support of cultural projects, and the assistance in the return of the relics, the expert evaluation of training programs – are the main tasks of the Russian Historical Society. February 17, 2013 in the Moscow Kremlin was held its regular meeting chaired by the Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin.

The Russian Historical Society, recreated last year, is gaining momentum. At the present, second meeting, it stands ready to accept new members and build large-scale plans for the future in the momentous days for Russia – the 400th anniversary of the House of Romanov.

The centenary of the First World War in 2014, the 20th anniversary of the Russian Constitution and the Federal Assembly – this is list of the main activities of the Company in the near future. The priority is the participation in the preparation of a single textbook of Russian history, the appearance of which advocated for many teachers.

According to the head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergei Ivanov, the textbook should be verified by content, consistent with the experts responsible for the method of presentation of educational material, and written in accessible Russian language. The MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov offers to accustom to the study of national history with lower grades.

“I think that this textbook should actively be used with modern technology. The textbook for babies should have DVD-ROM that will contain the bright images, episodes of our good movies and cartoons, which are devoted to one or another historical subjects,”, - he said.

The debates over the new history textbook are still ahead. But the Russian Historical Society will take part in its creation.

Also at the meeting was presented a facsimile edition of manuscript book of the XVII century about the election to the throne of the first tsar from the Romanov dynasty. The unique folio with scientific comments is published by the museum “The Moscow Kremlin” with the financial support of the Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation.
