Memorable dates of Russia: The Day of the Russian parliamentarism to be celebrated on April 27 for the first time

April 27, in Russia for the first time will be celebrated the Day of Russian parliamentarism established by Federal law and passed by the State Duma on June 8, 2012, approved by the Federation Council on 15 June 2012 and signed by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on June 27, 2012.

The Federal law establishes a new memorable date of Russia April 27 – the Day of Russian parliamentarism. This date is the date of the commencement of work in 1906, the State Duma - the first in the country’s history of democratic institution, which laid the foundations of parliamentarism in Russia.

The Establishing of the anniversary in Russia - the Day of Russian parliamentarism - is intended to help to attract the attention of the general public to the activities of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the legislative bodies of state power of subjects of the Russian Federation, the promotion of these activities.

To this day are confined activities in regions of Russia. So, in Barnaul opened the Parliamentary Centre of the Altai region, where on April 24, 2013 took place a plenary session of the All-Russian scientific-practical conference “Representative authority in the Russian Federation: the history, theory and modernity”, the work of which was held on 23-24 April in the form of three sections:

- “The representative authority in Russia: philosophical, historical, legal, political science aspects”,

- The formation of representative bodies in Russia: Legislation, Practice and Prospects”,

- “The activity of bodies of representative authority in Russia”.

The greetings to participants and guests of the conference were sent by the Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin. The message says: “In the year of the 20th anniversary of the Constitution and on the eve of the Day of the Russian parliamentarism the debate about the value of law-making, the role of the legislature in Russia is particularly important. The most crucial here is the regional aspect. Before the legislative assemblies of the Federation today are demanding tasks that require a high level of professionalism, as well as close coordination with colleagues from other regions and at the federal level”.
