2014 is declared to be the Year of Culture in Russia. The relevant order signed President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The text of the document is posted at the web site of the President of Russia and the official web site of the legal information.

According to the document, a Year of Culture will be held in 2014 in the Russian Federation “… in order to focus the public’s attention on issues of cultural development, preserving cultural heritage and the role of Russian culture in the world”.

According to the order, the Government of the Russian Federation should form an organizing committee for the Year of Culture, as well as to ensure the development and approval of a plan for the major events in the Year of Culture of the Russian Federation.
