Exhibitions: The collection of the old Spanish painting from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum presented in Vyborg
In the exhibition hall of the “Hermitage-Vyborg” on April 20, 2013 opens a new exhibition from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum. The residents and visitors will be able to see the old Vyborg paintings by Spanish artists.
The Hermitage collection of the old Spanish painting is one of the largest outside of Spain. Most of the works are kept in the collection of the Hermitage and are rarely exhibited.
The main part of the collection presents paintings of artists of “gold” in the Spanish art XVII century: El Greco, Ribera, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Murillo, Goya.
Along with canvases by painters is exhibited a collection of Spanish weapons and handicrafts of the XIV-XIX centuries carved bone, bronze, decorated with embossed leather furniture, painted metallic luster ceramics and glass, fabrics and embroidery.
