Libraries and society: The International Scientific-Practical Conference “The role of libraries in providing access to the state and socially relevant information” in Murmansk

April 15-18, 2013 in the Murmansk Regional Scientific Library is held the international scientific and practical conference “The role of libraries in providing access to the state and socially relevant information”. The Conference is organized by the Government of the Murmansk region, the Russian Committee of UNESCO “Information for everyone”, the Interregional Center of Library Cooperation, the Committee on Culture and Arts of the Murmansk region, the Committee for Information Technology of Murmansk and the Murmansk State Regional Scientific Library. 

The following topics will be prepared for the discussion:

- The role of libraries in providing public access to the state and socially-relevant information;

- Interaction of libraries with state and municipal authorities, institutions of education, science and culture;

- The library as a resource center for the local community;

- Social partnership as a factor in improving the quality of library services;

- The development and realization of library programs and corporate projects on development of electronic resources;

- The formation of regional digital resources;

- The role of libraries in the civil legal education of the population;

- New formats of library promotion in adolescent and youth environment;

- The available library: experience of work with socially unprotected categories of users;

As part of the conference on April 17 will be held events dedicated to the 75^th anniversary of the Murmansk Regional Scientific Library.
