“Legendary pages in the photographs of Yevgeny Khaldei” – so called the exhibition of works of the famous Soviet photographer, the TASS military photo correspondent Yevgeny Khaldei, opened in Kaliningrad in the Museum of the World Ocean.

The exposition, depicting the history of the victory and feats of the country during the Great Patriotic War and in the post-war period, presents about 80 works by the Master. The absolute majority of them for the first time, after many decades of black-and-white negatives, turned to photography to face descendants of those imprinted on them heroes.

Deputy Director of the Museum of the World Ocean Victor Stryuk noted that the photographs included in the exposition present an undoubted documentary, historical value. “Yevgeny Khaldei was able to capture, to stop the significant moments of life of the people of the country. Moments, which are destined to live for centuries, which future generations should know about”, - said Stryuk.

All the 1418 days of the Great Patriotic War from Murmansk to Berlin, Yevgeny Khaldei was the TASS photograph reporter. One of his most famous photographs is the hoisting of the Banner of Victory over the Reichstag. His photographs depict the defeat of the Japanese in the Far East, the Paris meeting of foreign ministers and signing of the German surrender.
