
History and Culture: The "Days of Slavonic Literature and Culture" Festival starts in Poland
The festival "Days of Slavonic Literature and Culture" opens on May 16, 2013, in the Polish city of Gdansk. The key event of the festival will be held at the Center for Russian Culture and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, and at Russian Center of Science and Culture, the Art Lyceum and at the Orthodox school in Warsaw.
Among invited to of the Festival are the priests of the Orthodox Church in Poland, the Russian Embassy in Poland representatives, the assignees of the city halls of Gdansk, Warsaw, Krakow, and also heads the artistic and humanitarian institututions.
The art shows of Yaroslavl masters, the members of the Union of Artists of Russia Alexander and Rob Cameron, who painted the iconostasis in Russian, as well as in foreign churches, are the part of the festival events. At the festival, artists will show The icons that were previously shown in Russia, Italy, Latvia and Hungary will be featured at the festival.
The festival organizers have arranged a series of educational programs for those who are interested in Russian history and culture. At master classes and lectures, in particular, the canons and methods of icon painting will be discussed, the phases of the icon’s painting, the Old Slavonic typography handling, and the nuances of fine application of gold leaf.
