To commemorate the 68th anniversary of the Great Victory: “From the photo archive of the Great Patriotic War” exhibition in Novgorod

May 8, 2013, in the conference hall of the Museum of Fine Arts (Veliky Novgorod) the exhibition "From the photo archive of the Great Patriotic War", provided by Nonprofit Foundation "Museum of Avant-Garde" (Moscow). The exhibition includes 100 photographs dating to 1941-1946, made by photojournalists, which have gone down in history of the Russian and world photography.

A large collection of military photos, part of which is on display, was purchased several years ago at an auction by the Nonprofit Foundation "Museum of Avant-Garde" and was exhibited at the office of the Foundation in Moscow. The prints of the most interesting works were prepared for display especially for the Novgorod State United Museum Preserve. Many of them, for various reasons, have not been published; the others, on the contrary, are well known and classic. All photos represent documents of the era and, at the same time, the works of fine art. This is their special value and the attractive force. All the exhibits have been granted by the Foundation to the museum and will be further widely used in various exhibition projects.

The exhibition will run until June 8, 2013.
