Society and culture: The exhibition, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the artist Alexander Golovin in Saint-Petersburg
June 20, 2013 in the Benois Wing of the State Russian Museum (Saint-Petersburg) opens the exhibition “Alexander Golovin. 1863-1930”.
The exhibition is timed to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous Russian artist A. Y. Golovin (1863-1930) whose work combined the tradition and the modernity, the severity of neoclassicism and decorative refinement of the Art Nouveau style.
The exposition consists of 150 works of painting, drawing and decorative art from the collection of the Russian Museum, the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts (Museum Apartment of I. I. Brodsky), the Saint-Petersburg State Museum of Theater and Music, the Russian Geographical Society and private collections of Petersburg. Also the audience is offered authentic costumes from the collection of the ALexandrinsky Theatre (Saint-Petersburg) based on sketches by A. Y. Golovin.
