The fundamental two-volume edition “Baikal study” was among the top four books in the nomination “The best edition of the natural sciences, engineering and medicine”. The winner in the nomination of the ten was the complete collection of works of M. V. Lomonosov.

The presentation of the “Baikal study” was held in March this year in the ISU. The two-volume tells the story of research of the deepest lake of the planet, describes the fauna and flora of the geographic characteristics and biology of the Lake Baikal. In addition, a special place is occupied by modern environmental problems.

“The first volume contains information mainly on abiotic, i.e. the inanimate nature of the Lake Baikal, and on the surrounding fauna inhabiting the shores of Lake Baikal. And the second one is the wildlife of the Baikal. The Baikal study is included in the curriculum of many schools. However, to date there were no manuals of this discipline for the students”, - said the Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Soil of the ISU Arkady Matveev.
