History of Russia: The exhibition “Heroes of the Soviet Union” in the Fortress “Oreshek”

The exhibition “Heroes of the Soviet Union. 25 portraits from the collection of the State Museum of the History of Saint-Petersburg” opens on June 14, 2013 in the Fortress “Oreshek”.

The exhibition features portraits of 25 heroes of the Soviet Union, committed their feats in a battle of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition at the Fortress “Oreshek” will allow remember faces of heroes and tell about their feats for which they awarded the honor of wearing the Star of Hero.

The exhibition demonstrates the coincidence in the Fortress “Oreshek”, which during the Great Patriotic War was one of the main points of defense of the besieged Leningrad. The garrison, consisting of 350 men, over 498 days kept the defense being on the front lines of the Leningrad front.
