Society and Media: Russia and China has approved a plan of cooperation in the field of Mass Media within the next few years

The Russian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media Alexei Volin took part in the sixth meeting of the subcommittee on cooperation in the field of mass media of the Russian-Chinese Commission for Humanitarian Cooperation. The sides noted the successful development of multilateral cooperation in the field of media and approved a work plan in this area in 2013-2014.

Alexei Volin stressed that the priority areas of cooperation should be the Internet, book publishing, the use of mobile platforms for distribution of media content.

An important area of ​​cooperation was the interaction within international media organizations, and associations of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). Much attention was also paid to the Russian-Chinese exchange programs for journalists and especially among young journalists.

Also, a separate question was raised of cooperation between Russia and China in the development of the Internet and mobile communications platforms. The meeting stressed that the cooperation with media should promote the development of economic and trade relations and tourism between the two countries.

It was also discussed the issue on possibility of holding of the World Forum of Russian-speaking media in China next year. The final decision on this issue will soon be made.
